Piano, Piano - A Group Art Show @ Index Greenpoint
For the culmination of the 2025's Artistic Alchemy course at Index, we are presenting a group art show featuring work created by 19 members of our cohort and inspired by principles of the course.
In Italian, the word piano carries many meanings: softly, slowly, a plan, an instrument, a floor. When said twice — piano piano — it means “slowly, slowly,” but it also conveys a gentle pace, intentionality, and trust in the process.
We've paired that concept with our cohort's audacity to create what's asking to be created and a middle finger to perfectionism for a show that's meant to be honest, interactive, and a ton of fun.

Hana Kajimura and Benham Jones will be spinning tunes and Kristen Heritage will perform an acoustic set. We’ll have fun beverage sponsors, including Ijeoma Nwokorie, who will be pouring non-alcoholic and low-abv cocktails inspired by her Nigerian background. There will be a fortune teller! Cake! Room to dance! And many memories to be made!
It's giving back to the community! 🦋
Benham Jones is accepting donations for lightly-used coats and seasonal clothes, to be cycled directly back into the community via @astoriafoodpantry and @freestoreastoria.
Ella Fitch will be selling copies of her poem books and giving 100% of proceeds to The National Immigrant Justice Center, a legal aid org advocating for human rights & humane immigration policies.
