Johnny Bear Contreras (Kumeyaay, San Pasqual Band)

Johnny Bear Contreras is a cultural bearer, sculptor, and founder of the Eyaay Ahuun Foundation, a hub for Native arts pathways, cultural offerings, and environmental stewardship. He serves as Cultural Chair for the San Pasqual Band of Mission Indians, as a representative on the Kumeyaay Cultural Repatriation Committee (KCRC), and as a fellow at the Tijuana River National Estuarine Research Reserve (TRNERR).

The Kumeyaay/Kumiai have been environmental and conservation stewards of this region since time immemorial. Johnny Bear carries that work forward through a trinational approach, working collectively toward renewable energy, a sustainable planet, and preserving the earth for the next seven generations.
