The Nook Anniversary Gala & Fundraiser
Celebrating one year of community!
For one year, The Nook has been home to extraordinary gatherings, from bachata nights to basement theater, climate poetry to art shows that push boundaries. Behind each event stood a host who transformed a vision into reality, and who built connection from nothing but intention and courage.
To celebrate our 1 year anniversary, we're turning the spotlight where it belongs: on our hosts! Join us for an elegant fundraiser gala inspired by the Academy Awards, where we'll honor some of the all star event hosts who've made The Nook a place of magic, creativity, and belonging during our first year.
Come dressed in your finest formal attire! Think old Hollywood glamour, modern elegance, or whatever makes you feel like the star you are. This is your night to celebrate not just what we've built, but who we've built it with.
This magical evening will include:
Red carpet arrival
Live music from local group Queer Jazz
Unlimited gourmet themed mocktails
Silent auction of local goods and services
Host awards ceremony
Pop-up hors d'oeuvres from a local food vendor (more info coming soon!)
Limited edition Nook merch (get it before it's gone!)
This gala is more than a party. It's a love letter to our community, a thank you to those who've hosted with heart, and a fundraiser to mark a strong start to our second year together.
Live Music from Queer Jazz
To set the tone, we have a duo from Queer Jazz playing all night. You can learn more about Queer Jazz here: https://www.instagram.com/queerjazzjam/
Eden Chaloemtiarana (he/they) is from San Francisco, where he works as a tour guide at Grace Cathedral and a union steward for IATSE at SFJAZZ. He is also the co-founder and director of Legroom Jazz Quartet. He moonlights as a dog dad. Eden believes that art is armor against empire. They will be playing percussion.
Xian (they) is a music artist up and down the California Coast. They organize Queer Jazz Jams, safe spaces for queer jazz musicians to gather and play music together. They spend their free time urban farming and in environmental stewardship. Xian believes that live music is prayer for dismantling empire. They will be playing keyboard/synthesizer.
