About Event

Filmmaker and teacher Olga Yakimenko joins Nautilus for an evening and invites us into the strange overlap between movies, minds, and the ways we make sense of the world. Why do films feel real when we know they’re not? What happens in our brains when a story or image pulls us in completely?

Blending art, science, and philosophy, Olga will guide us through how film plays with perception — from beauty and pattern to prediction and surprise — and how the medium itself works like a collective brain, weaving together the work of many people and many ways of knowing. Expect short talks, film examples, and open conversation throughout the night.

Light snacks & drinks will be provided.
