About Event

This October, as the global open-source community ignites for Hacktoberfest, we're taking it a step further with "Hallo Open Source: Sprint & Buildathon." This isn't just about making four pull requests; it's about making a lasting impact.

This intensive, hands-on event is designed to empower the next generation of open-source leaders. We're creating a space for developers, designers, and problem-solvers to transition from being contributors to becoming creators and maintainers of meaningful open-source projects.

What to Expect:

Participants can choose from two distinct tracks:

  1. The Creator Track (Buildathon): Have a groundbreaking idea? This track is for you. We will guide you through the entire lifecycle of launching a new open-source project. You'll learn how to scaffold your project, choose the right license, write excellent documentation (README, CONTRIBUTING.md), set up CI/CD with GitHub Actions, and attract your first contributors. The goal is to leave the event with a live, well-structured project on GitHub that's ready for the world.

  2. The Contributor Track (Sprint): Ready to make high-impact contributions? We'll curate a list of exciting open-source projects (including some born from our own community!) that are actively seeking help. You'll work in teams, guided by mentors, to tackle meaningful issues, refactor code, improve documentation, and ship quality pull requests that get merged.

Throughout the event, you'll benefit from expert-led workshops, mentorship from seasoned open-source maintainers, and dedicated time to build, collaborate, and learn. We're focusing on quality over quantity, aiming to launch sustainable projects and foster the skills needed to thrive in the open-source ecosystem.

Join us to solve real-world problems, build your portfolio with career-defining work, and become a leader in the open-source movement.
