Fireside Conversation with Andrew Forrester
This event is designed for aspiring authors in Austin who want a clear look at what it actually takes to bring a novel into the world.
On Saturday, June 27th, we’ll host a small, intimate conversation with Austin novelist Andrew Forrester, whose debut novel How The Story Goes was published in May by Avon/William Morrow.
Andrew Forrester is a writer and former English teacher whose work has appeared in McSweeney's and Parents magazine. He holds a PhD in nineteenth-century British literature and lives in Austin, Texas, with his family.
In this heartwarming, bookish debut, a young widower of a famous children’s fantasy author teams up with a down-on-her-luck MFA dropout to write the final book in his late wife’s series . . . and find their own perfect ending along the way.
Andrew will talk through the full arc of the book’s life:
where the idea began
how the manuscript evolved
what the publishing process looked like
and what surprised him once the book was published.
The format will be a fireside conversation to keep things relaxed and interactive.
Our host, Perry Chiaramonte, will open with a short introduction and a few questions about Andrew’s journey writing and publishing How The Story Goes. From there we’ll open the room for discussion so attendees can ask questions about craft, revision, agents, publishing, and the realities of debuting a novel today.
Please note: attendance is limited to 20 people. The small group format will allow for a thoughtful discussion and direct access to Andrew in a setting that feels more like a literary salon than a lecture.
