About Event

Playing, Dreaming, Worldbuilding” is a series of creative gameplay workshops facilitated by artist Kruthika NS (TheWorkplaceDoodler), empowering players to reimagine, rebuild, and rewild the worlds they WANT to live in.

Emerging from her Master's Thesis research and a lifechanging class on feminist worldbuilding at NYU, these workshops utilize the “Dreaming & Worldbuilding Game” co-designed by the artist with girls and young feminists across the globe during her art residency with Our Collective Practice, a global girls' rights organisation.

The game offers players a space to dream of collective futures that resist imaginations laced with dystopia, helplessness, and destruction — so much of which is being fuelled by the technological systems of the present. It begins by offering clues or prompts to get each player thinking about a brand new world completely uprooted from our current reality. Through imaginative play and collaborative dialogue, players will build on these clues, challenge existing societal structures, explore their collective desires, and lay seeds to future worlds they want to inhabit.

The workshop will include a meditative dreaming session, collective play, and space to co-create art that provides a glimpse into the worlds they build.
