About the event:
This workshop is an intense, introductory confrontation with different layers you can go through in the Meisner technique. We will start by exploring the fundamental exercise "The Repetition, "then we will explore the "independent activities, "and we will finally bring all these elements together in the "scene study week." In just a few weeks, you will better understand the power that the Meisner Technique can give you for your acting craft and, on top of that, for you as a person.
تعد هذه الورشة بمثابة مواجهة تمهيدية مكثفة مع مختلف المراحل والطبقات التي يمكنك المرور بها في "تقنية ميزنر" (Meisner technique). سنبدأ باستكشاف التمرين الأساسي "التكرار" (The Repetition)، ثم ننتقل إلى استكشاف "الأنشطة المستقلة" (Independent activities)، وأخيرًا سنجمع كل هذه العناصر معًا في "أسبوع دراسة المشاهد" (Scene study week). وفي غضون أسابيع قليلة فقط، ستفهم بشكل أفضل القوة التي يمكن أن تمنحك إياها تقنية ميزنر لحرفتك التمثيلية، بالإضافة إلى أثرها عليك كشخص.
About the instructor
Walaa Kaddah is an Egyptian actor, dancer, and acting coach with over six years of experience working with performers from diverse cultural backgrounds and nationalities. Her practice is rooted in the belief that acting is a profound vehicle for self-exploration, empathy, and authentic human connection.
She earned her BA in Theatre Arts from the American University in Cairo and completed a two-year conservatory training in the Meisner Technique at the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre in New York City. She further trained with the SITI Company under Anne Bogart, specializing in Suzuki and Viewpoints, and is a graduate of the Cairo Contemporary Dance School.
As an educator, Walaa has guided actors at various stages of their artistic journeys, facilitating Meisner-based training and workshops for students from different national, cultural, and professional backgrounds. Her methodology combines technical precision, movement practice, and nervous system awareness to foster truthful, embodied, and emotionally resonant performances.
Through her work, she strives to create a supportive and challenging environment where artists can deepen their craft, expand their creative capacities, and develop a lasting connection to their authentic voice.
ولاء قدّاح هي ممثلة وراقصة ومدربة تمثيل مصرية، تمتد خبرتها لأكثر من ست سنوات في العمل مع مؤدين وفنانين من خلفيات ثقافية وجنسيات متنوعة. ينطلق منهجها العملي من إيمان راسخ بأن التمثيل هو وسيلة عميقة لاستكشاف الذات، وتحقيق التعاطف، وبناء تواصل إنساني أصيل.
حصلت ولاء على درجة البكالوريوس في الفنون المسرحية من الجامعة الأمريكية بالقاهرة، كما أتمت تدريبًا كونسرفتوار مدته سنتان في "تقنية ميزنر" بـ "مدرسة نيبورهود بلايهاوس للمسرح" (Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre) في مدينة نيويورك. وواصلت تدريبها المتخصص مع فرقة "سيتي كومباني" (SITI Company) تحت إشراف "آن بوجارت"، حيث تخصصت في منهجَي "سوزوكي" و"وجهات النظر" (Suzuki and Viewpoints)، وهي أيضًا خريجة "مدرسة القاهرة للمعاصر" (Cairo Contemporary Dance School).
وبصفتها مدربة ومعلمة، وجهت ولاء الممثلين في مراحل مختلفة من رحلتهم الفنية، وسهلت ورش عمل وتدريبات قائمة على تقنية ميزنر لطلاب من خلفيات جنسية وثقافية ومهنية متعدده. يجمع منهجها بين الدقة التقنية، وممارسة الحركة، والوعي بالجهاز العصبي لتعزيز أداء صادق، مجسد، وذو صدى عاطفي عميق.
ومن خلال عملها، تسعى جاهدة لتوفير بيئة داعمة ومحفزة في آن واحد، يمكن للفنانين من خلالها تعميق حرفتهم، وتوسيع قدراتهم الإبداعية، وتطوير صلة دائمة بصوتهم الأصيل.
