we’re bringing together the conversations, the people and the music that shapes the culture around afrobeats and afrocentric music in general. we’ll talk, we’ll play, and we’ll dance.

the sound
afrobeats gets used as a catch-all, usually meaning whatever charted this year. we mean something wider and older than that.
highlife came first — ghanaian guitar bands making dance music for a century. afrobeat, singular, is fela's: long, political, built on funk and jazz. afrobeats, plural, is what lagos, accra and london made of all that from the 2000s on. amapiano came out of the townships around johannesburg and pretoria — log drums, deep space, patience. afro house carries that same south african lineage further back, and afrotech is its harder, more percussive edge.

a panel on how technology can improve discoverability and supercharge the creatives and producers behind the sound. industry specialists, open floor, real questions — not a keynote.
solomon omojola — facilitator — @bunmioosha
founder of lykdat, which builds ai visual search for fashion — technology that helps people find what they're looking for when they don't have the words for it. he's a creative at heart, which is why he's holding this conversation rather than reading questions off a card. discoverability is the problem he works on daily, in a different industry with the same shape.
tayoristar — @tayoristar
afro-fusion producer, songwriter and dj. st, music business executive/label. trained in the US and Canada & Netherlands, then returned to Nigeria as producer and a&r at dr dolor entertainment, working with artists like teni, peruzzi, olakira and hotkid. his 2020 fire ep featured teni and asake. since then: ir sais, nico & vinz, victony, Jungeli, 1da banton, moliy, davido, majeeed, s-x, Fave, elams. co-founded the multi-platinum group so7ace in 2023, and started Lagos in nl, an original afrobeats event experience in nl.
quesi anim — @quesianim
with twenty years of industry experience, quesi anim has worked across the music ecosystem, from producing and co-owning a record label to running cruise control studio. he now manages some of the netherlands’ most high-profile producers and a singer, and recently joined latin village festival to curate its sound and book its artists.
afia anim — @afiaxhealing
ghanaian singer-songwriter and actress, raised in the netherlands. she blends afrobeats, r&b and neo-soul with writing about empowerment, healing and transformation — making music that's meant to connect and to be enjoyed at the same time.
play
ye bo game takes the room for a music-centred games session. small groups, short rounds, strangers made into teams. it's the part of the night where you actually meet someone.
food & drink
two drink tokens for the dutch bar (beer & wine), plus 2–3 rounds of borrel bites — both included in the drinks & bites tickets. the bar is open all night for everything else.
