The whitepaper

In the race to reduce emissions, one crucial area is being overlooked: digital data practices. Creating, storing and managing digital data is placing an increasing burden on the planet. Data centres now have a larger carbon footprint than the aviation industry. A structured approach to information management can reduce organisations’ emissions and costs.

The Impact of Digital Decarbonisation in Records and Information Management is an in-depth exploration of the environmental impact of digital data. It sets out information management strategies organisations can adopt to reduce both energy and expenditure.

The speakers

Professors Tom Jackson and Ian Hodgkinson of Loughborough University are experts in information management and digital transformation. They have published pioneering work on the dark side of digital decarbonisation, written about digital transformation for leading academic journals, created the first publicly available data carbon forecasting toolkit and fed into global AI policy development as members of the OECD.AI Compute and Climate Expert Group.

Max Harding, CRO at OASIS Group will be joined by specialist colleagues in the information management sector to discuss the strategies and opportunities presented by the whitepaper.
