deep dive with Acton Academy Silicon Valley’s Head of School, Muhammad Iqbal : an independent PK–8 school in Redwood City that reimagines education by placing each child in the driver’s seat of their own learning journey. Children work in mix-aged group, set their own goals, learn core skills, engage in Socratic group discussions, work on ‘quests’ (6-week program with a theme) and present their work to the school community.

an invitation for children of any age to interact with robots like Aibo, and then talk about friendship.
Dr. Iris Oved, philosopher, cognitive scientist and AI consultant, cofounder of The Paradox Lab that aims at introducing children and adults to philosophical inquiry, critical thinking, and ethics.
Dr Kyle Robertson, co-founder of the Center for Public Philosophy at UC Santa Cruz. He has a passion for all things public philosophy, including high school ethics bowl programs, teaching inside San Quentin State Prison, and philosophy for children.
Dr Sophie Stone, Associate Professor of Philosophy at Lynn University. She uses ideas from thinkers like Plato and Aristotle to help students, children, and community members ask better questions and think more carefully about life and society.

lunch will be cooked by Little Lunchbox, a small business run by a fantastic 7th grader named Maggie. She is 12 years old and has been interested in cooking and baking since she was a toddler. She runs a program at Acton Academy Silicon Valley, selling hot lunches to fellow students! (my boys are hooked!). Maggie’s specialty is nutritious, homemade dishes that appeal to kids and adults. So get your Venmo or cash ready, and come meet Maggie!
