HEAT NETWORKS: Policy, Standards and Delivery in the UK - Tom Allard
Heat networks distribute heat from a shared source through a network of pipes to homes, businesses and public buildings. By using low-carbon sources and recovering heat that would otherwise go to waste, they can help reduce emissions and support more affordable heating.
This presentation introduces how heat networks work and why they matter, before exploring the government’s approach to supporting both their growth and good customer outcomes through regulation, consumer protection, technical standards and investment. It examines how heat network zoning and collaboration between national and local bodies can accelerate development, with developer selection and consent requirements supporting reliable delivery and social value for communities.
The format of this event will be a 45 minute presentation from Tom Allard (DESNZ) followed by a 15 minute Q&A.
