About Event

Come learn about public wood procurement, and how wood sourcing can help projects fulfill their social, environmental, and economic goals. This presentation will aim to dive deep into wood procurement and discuss the values and impacts of intentional wood sourcing, including:

  • How wood sourcing can be intentional and impactful

  • The state of the PNW wood economy, including current and future expectations and unique product options

  • Product availability in the Pacific Northwest

  • Examples of unique projects

  • Discussions around policy and incentives for City, County, and State governments

This event will be co-hosted by King County, Sustainable Northwest, and Sustainable Northwest Wood.

King County's 2025 Strategic Climate Action Plan advances regional green building market growth and development through policy, procurement, county-run programs and funding to private and other public sector entities.

Sustainable Northwest is a conservation organization working throughout the Pacific Northwest, building community-led solutions that work for nature, jobs, and people. The Wood Markets program aims to build a wood products economy that connects the built environment to healthy forests and people that produce wood products.

Sustainable Northwest Wood is a business with yards in Seattle and Portland offering a full range of local, FSC and salvage wood products to projects of all scopes and sizes.

*Sustainable Northwest (nonprofit) and Sustainable Northwest Wood (for profit wood retailer) are affiliated, aiming to overlap and support the joint goal of a more transparent wood supply chain, though they operate independent of one another.
