Documentary Screening | Can We Do It Ourselves?

​We often think of democracy as a political system where, every few years, you get to vote on one of several political parties or politicians to represent your interests at the local, regional, or national level. But is this really what the ancient Greeks had in mind when they coined the term? Or is this an extremely watered down version of democracy masquerading as the real thing while actual power is increasingly concentrated in the hands of a small elite of oligarchs? In "Can We Do It Ourselves?", we are invited to think of democracy as a philosophical principle that should be applied to all realms of life, including the economic realm. If we reject authoritarian dictators running our state, why should we accept them running our companies?
