Although soil analysis is typically costly and time consuming, Yard Stick is using a novel, robust, evidence-based handheld probe to dramatically reduce costs and coordination at scale (see more detail below). Our clients include large CPG brands like General Mills and Organic Valley as well as soil C project developers like Bayer and Kateri and soil C modeling service providers like Perennial and Habiterre.
Yard Stick is funded by significant USDA CSC awards, additional grants from ARPA-E, NSF, and CDFA, as well as by leading climate investors including Toyota Ventures Climate Fund, Microsoft Climate Innovation Fund, Lowercarbon Capital, Extantia, The Nature Conservancy, Breakthrough Energy Ventures (Bill Gates’ climate fund), Pillar, MCJ Collective and others.
Additionally, Yard Stick’s scientific advisory team features some of the most highly-regarded soil scientists in the world, including Dr. Cristine Morgan, Chief Scientific Officer of the Soil Health Institute and Editor-In-Chief of Geoderma, the world’s preeminent soil science journal.
