AAW 2026: Gallery Tour 8: Jordaan on foot (NL)

This Saturday afternoon walk takes you past four galleries in the Jordaan and along the canals. It starts at Depth of Field with Under the Surface, where historical scientific photography meets René Gerritsen’s research images of artworks, revealing layers invisible to the naked eye. At Stigter Van Doesburg, Maaike Schoorel shows paintings based on her daily bike ride to the studio, and at Galerie Bart, the group exhibition A Vivid Shine explores shine as a way to seduce and to conceal. The tour ends at Stevenson with Frida Orupabo’s first solo exhibition in the Netherlands.

Deze wandeling op zaterdagmiddag voert je langs vier galeries in de Jordaan en langs de grachten. De tocht begint bij Depth of Field met de tentoonstelling ‘Under the Surface’, waar historische wetenschappelijke fotografie samenkomt met René Gerritsens onderzoeksfoto’s van kunstwerken, waardoor lagen zichtbaar worden die met het blote oog onzichtbaar zijn. Bij Stigter Van Doesburg toont Maaike Schoorel schilderijen die zijn geïnspireerd op haar dagelijkse fietstocht naar het atelier, en bij Galerie Bart verkent de groepstentoonstelling ‘A Vivid Shine’ glans als een manier om te verleiden en te verbergen. De rondleiding eindigt bij Stevenson met de eerste solotentoonstelling van Frida Orupabo in Nederland.
