Balancing the Scales: Women Shaping Justice, Rights, and Power in a Changing World
The International Women's Day (IWD), March 8, is a global event that celebrates women’s social, economic, cultural, and political achievements, while acting as a call to action for accelerating gender equality in all its ramifications. It highlights key issues at the global, national levels, from women’s rights to violence against women, and women’s participation in leadership and governance.
The theme for the 2026 IWD, Balancing the Scales, offers an invaluable opportunity to pause and reflect on the progress made towards gender parity and the gaps that still exist and call for urgent action. The World Economic Forum’s (WEF) 2025 Global Gender Gap Report, warns that it will take 123 years to reach full, global gender parity at the current rate of progress, across economic, political, health, and education sectors.
This webinar aims to create a space for dialogue, knowledge-sharing, and strategic collaboration to advance the rights, dignity, and safety of women within the context of human rights, electoral governance, water justice, and maritime: fields that define how power is exercised and how fairness is experienced by people every day.
