C++ Brno - vol.8
Let’s start the year right with another meetup for C++ enthusiasts!
We will meet again at the A2 stage.
Agenda
17:00 - 17:30 | Gathering
17:30 - 17:35 | Welcome to C++ Brno
17:35 - 18:05 | Robert Batůšek: What happens to unit tests in the era of AI?
What was their role in the past, what is it today, and where are they headed?
The aim of this talk is to explore the evolution of unit testing—from the classic principles found in books like Working Effectively with Legacy Code (often rooted in C++ experience) to our current modern landscape heavily shaped by AI. Together, we will examine how generative AI is reshaping this space.
With AI now capable of generating test suites on its own, how does the developer’s responsibility shift? Drawing from real-world development experience and insights gained from consulting with various engineering teams, this talk outlines how AI tools change the way we write, maintain, and think about unit tests.
18:05 - 18:35 | Jakub Neruda: The best way to initialize class attributes in C++
We’ve all been there. Writing a class constructor that takes some parameters and just copies them to attributes of the class.
How should I do it, so it is as performant as possible? Should I pass it by ´const&´ and just copy it? Or pass by value and move from it? Or should I use the dreaded rvalue parameter and force the user to decide? Let’s find out!
18:35 - 19:00 | Snack & Network
19:00 - 20:00 | Lightning Talks (5-15 minutes)
Jan Koniarik: Linked lists are cool
💡 Got a great idea, a hard-learned lesson, or a clever hack? We’re looking for non-commercial lightning talks (5-15 mins) to round out the evening. This is your chance to step up, share your know-how, and build your brand within the community. Whether it’s a niche technique or a fresh perspective on a common problem, come show us what you’ve got.
20:00 - 22:00 | Network & Table Football
💡 Note, please: Photos and video recordings will be taken at the event for promotional purposes. Please let us know at registration or on-site if you do not wish to be captured.
