Amsterdam | Cycladic Forms: A Clay Handbuilding Workshop inspired by ancient Greek sculpture
✨ Cycladic Clay: A Sculptural Handbuilding Workshop
📍 Zoku Amsterdam | Amsterdam Oost
🗓 March 29
🕛 12:30 – 3:00
Hosted in partnership with Paris Vivianne Panigiri
🧠 What This Workshop Is About
Join us for a slow, contemplative afternoon working with clay, inspired by the timeless beauty of Cycladic figurines—ancient sculptural forms created thousands of years ago in the heart of the Aegean.
Known for their quiet presence, simplified human silhouettes, and balanced proportions, Cycladic figures feel both deeply ancient and strikingly modern. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll create your own Cycladic-style figure using intuitive handbuilding techniques, guided step by step in a calm, supportive environment.
The focus is on simplicity, rhythm, and proportion, rather than detail or perfection. You’ll be encouraged to work slowly, respond intuitively to the material, and develop a form that feels personal and grounded.
Participants may choose to honour the minimalist aesthetic of the Cyclades by keeping their piece pure and understated, or introduce a contemporary touch through subtle surface textures, modern details, or painted elements. By the end of the session, you’ll leave with a sculptural object that bridges past and present—a timeless form reimagined through your own modern lens.
No prior experience is needed. This workshop is designed to be grounding, expressive, and quietly powerful—an invitation to slow down and work with form, history, and intuition.
