About Event

This event brings together interns and corpers at NIIA to examine Nigeria’s strategic role in shaping Africa’s resurgence within an increasingly dynamic and multipolar global system. As traditional power structures continue to evolve and emerging economies such as China etc to redefine global influence, Africa is steadily repositioning itself as a critical stakeholder in international governance, trade, and security.

Focusing on Nigeria’s leadership within regional and continental frameworks such as the African Union and the ECOWAS, the event will explore the country’s contributions to peacekeeping, economic integration, democratic governance, and diplomatic engagement. Discussions will also highlight the opportunities presented by transformative initiatives like the African Continenntal Free Trade Area in strengthening intra-African trade and reducing structural dependence on external actors.

Through keynote presentations and panel sessions, participants will interrogate the challenges and prospects of Africa’s integration into the shifting global order, and assess how Nigeria’s foreign policy direction and institutional capacity can advance the continent’s quest for greater representation in global decision-making platforms, including the United Nations. The event aims to foster informed dialogue on how Nigeria and Africa can collectively navigate contemporary geopolitical transformations and assert a more influential voice in the emerging world order.
