NO RSVP NEEDED — MEMBER DROP-IN EVENT

Join us at Sansaar Books for a private member screening of Abderrahmane Sissako’s acclaimed 2014 drama, Timbuktu.

Visually stunning and deeply human, Timbuktu examines life in northern Mali under the brief, oppressive occupation of fundamentalist militants. Rather than focusing solely on conflict, Sissako captures the quiet, courageous resistance of everyday people—from musicians playing in secret to women defying absurd bans—with profound empathy, restraint, and unexpected poetic beauty.

• When: Friday, October 16 | 7:00 PM

• Where: Sansaar Books (6500 Fairmount Ave, Suite 1, El Cerrito)
