AI Game Jam #1: Ship a Web Game in 6 Hours + Afterparty
Build a playable browser game with AI in one afternoon. Then stay for drinks.
No prior game development experience required!
This is a six-hour hackathon for people who want to have fun building a weird, funny and possibly cursed game.
Use Codex, Claude, Cursor, or whatever AI coding setup you like to design, code, generate assets and ship a small 2D or 3D browser game.
Phaser, Excalibur.js, Three.js, Colyseus, PartyKit, React, and other web stacks are welcome.
The only real goal: by the end, your game should run, load, and be playable by someone else.
No pitch decks. Just games.
🔥 Start faster with the AI Game Jam Boilerplate: a Bun-first multiplayer browser-game starter with Colyseus, Excalibur, React, and built-in AI development skills.
Want a finished example to learn from? Vadim Jam is the complete game built from this stack - study it, remix the ideas, then make your own weird thing.
🎮 You can build:
A 2D arcade game
A 3D browser game
A strange interactive toy
A chaotic multiplayer game
An AI-powered NPC or game mechanic
A procedural world, level, character, or story system
A game about Romanian public figures, local politics, internet drama, bureaucracy, taxes, or whatever else deserves a health bar - like MTV's Celebrity Deathmatch
Keep it funny - don’t make us call a lawyer 😅
🕹️ Format:
Solo or teams of 2–3
Six-hour build sprint
Final demos at the end
Five-minute demo per project
Afterparty with drinks after the demos
🚀 Submission requirements:
A playable game, deployed or runnable locally
A short description of what you built
A note on how AI was used
Optional: GitHub repo, screenshots, or gameplay recording
Bonus points if you publish your game on itch.io!
🏆 Judging criteria:
Playability: does it actually run?
Fun: is there a clear mechanic or interaction loop?
Creativity: is the idea fresh, funny, strange, or surprising?
AI leverage: did AI meaningfully help you build faster or better?
Completeness: did you ship something coherent in six hours?
👾 Who should come:
Developers curious about AI-assisted game development
Designers and product people who want to prototype interactive ideas
Indie game builders
AI builders who want a more creative hackathon format
Curious beginners who are technical enough to contribute hands-on
🎒 What to bring:
