Science and Research for Urban Climate Action: Closing the evidence gap for informal settlements

​The Global Stocktake calls for stronger use of science, climate information and local knowledge in planning and implementation of urban climate action; the New Urban Agenda highlighted that while policies progressed, implementation gaps in advancing sustainable urbanization remain; and the IPCC Special Report on Climate Change and Cities (SRCities), due in March 2027, will provide a major new evidence base on urban climate risks, solutions and enabling conditions.

​This Roundtable builds on the “Science to Action” Roundtable held at COP30 and the 2026 Innovate4Cities Conference in Nairobi. This discussion aims to support this path forward, leveraging momentum generated through the launch of the WUF Academy in Baku earlier this year.
