This introductory lesson is designed to provide foundational knowledge and hands-on experience operating a manual lathe. Students will learn about the lathe’s components, safety protocols, and basic machining techniques. The session covers essential topics such as mounting workpieces, selecting cutting tools, setting speeds and feeds, use of the digital readout and performing simple turning operations. Emphasis is placed on understanding how manual lathes function, the principles of material removal, and interpreting engineering drawings related to parts turned on a lathe.
