Climate-Resilient Cities: Advanced Waste Infrastructure in Emerging Economies
Forming part of the COP31 President's Action Agenda on Climate-Resilient Cities, this is a 20-person senior roundtable on Advanced Waste Infrastructure in Emerging Economies.
Chaired by Fabio Dinale, Executive VP of Business Development at Kanadevia Inova, with Fabio Poretti, Head of Science | Energy&Climate at CEWEP.
Many cities in emerging economies have developed localised ways of managing waste. Whilst often sophisticated and creative, these localised solutions can be insufficient to manage all waste produced in the municipal area and are often hazardous to human and environmental health. Advanced waste infrastructure can complement existing waste management routes to support more efficient, comprehensive, and safe waste treatment. Although developing advanced waste infrastructure in emerging economies can be challenging as installations require highly specialised knowledge and high upfront capex, these challenges are by no means insurmountable.
