Our special guests are Mike Sigal and Georgina Tryfou.
Who is Mike Sigal?
Mike Sigal is a Lisbon-based advisor, executive coach, investor, and non-executive director who helps founders, scale-up leaders, and fund managers sharpen strategy, accelerate go-to-market, and raise capital in fast-changing markets.
Over a 35+ year career spanning Silicon Valley and global financial services innovation, Mike has worked with thousands of startups and with corporate and institutional investors—bridging the language gap between builders, venture capital, and regulated financial institutions.
Mike previously served as a Partner at 500 Startups’ FinTech Fund, where he led and supported 80+ early-stage fintech investments globally.
Earlier in his career, he helped shape the fintech ecosystem as Executive Producer of SWIFT’s Innotribe Challenge programs—one of the world’s largest fintech startup competitions—and he has been a founder or co-founder of eight companies, achieving four exits, including one that went through an IPO process.
He is also a frequent speaker at industry conferences and a guest lecturer at leading universities across the US and Europe on corporate venture capital, innovation, NED roles and responsibilities, and fintech.
Today, Mike serves on the Investment Committee of SC Ventures (Standard Chartered’s corporate venture arm) and is a Venture Partner at MiddleGame Ventures.
Beyond these roles, he works with founders and investment platforms across Europe and globally—supporting leadership teams on strategy, positioning, go-to-market execution, fundraising process design, and investor communications, and helping funds sharpen sourcing, diligence, and portfolio support in fintech and adjacent sectors.
His current work focuses on how venture capital is being reshaped by AI and by shifts in capital markets—and the unique implications for Europe, where a more conservative investment culture can be mismatched with the new pace, capital efficiency, and exit dynamics this transition is creating.
Mike works with select clients through advisory, coaching, and board roles, partnering with leadership teams to build durable businesses and clearer capital strategies.
Who is Georgina Tryfou?
Georgina Tryfou is a Senior Manager in Technology Consulting at EY Cyprus with a strong engineering background in Data, AI, and machine learning.
She has long, hands-on experience in designing, building, and scaling AI-driven systems, with expertise across machine learning, speech technologies, and cloud-based architectures. She holds a PhD in Automatic Speech Recognition from the University of Trento.
Georgina combines engineering rigor with practical problem solving, translating complex AI technologies into robust, production-ready solutions.
In her current role, she supports organizations on their AI and data transformation journeys, bridging technical teams and business stakeholders to deliver scalable, responsible, and value-driven AI solutions aligned with strategic objectives.
