Unfold - A Somatic Guided Journey / Contact Improv / Dance Evening
Welcome to Unfold: A Somatic Soundscape Journey
in Los Angeles, California
UNFOLD is a guided movement experience in the form of a dancing journey designed to help you drop into your body and reclaim your personal power from the inside out. It’s a reawakening to the idea that dance is the oldest form of prayer. Here, desire is not discarded; it is made aware, coming from a state of "fullness" rather than "lack."
Location: Primal Moves in Venice (https://primalmoves.com/locations/venice/)
When: Tue, June 16th, 7pm - 10pm
MORE ABOUT THE VENUE:
Primal Moves is a shoes off facility, please remove your shoes and keep them off until you are ready to exit back into the default world. Bring your own personal vessel for drinking from. Pets are not permitted inside the facility, please leave them at home.
Parking in the neighborhood is EXTREMELY limited, so please allow extra time to park respectfully and do not block neighboring homes or driveways. 👁️ Facilitator & DJ: Carina (DJ Weaver)
Born in Romania, Carina is a professional mediator and filmmaker with a background in neuroscience and a 24-year contemplative practice.
As DJ Weaver, she brings a sound inspired by the folk tales of the Carpathian Mountains—a lyrical wanderlust with a wild giggle. Her movement background spans the Romanian National Figure Skating Team, Chen-style T'ai Chi, Ikarian circle dancing, and Argentine Tango. Grounded in traditional roots, she found her latest expression in the fusion community, DJing for Fusion Vibe, Revolution Fusion, and Fusion Odyssey.

How this unfolds:
🌀 The Foundations of the Journey
1. Embracing Gravity: The ground is our first and most important partner.
2. Kinetic Intimacy: Drawing on the subtle communication of Contact Improvisation and Micro-Fusion partner dancing.
3. Collective Depth: Inspired by the community aspect of the Ikarian Circle Dance (Ikaria, Greece, is a Blue Zone island where dance is a crucial element of longevity).
4. Raw Expression: Rooted in the fluid, honest freedom of organic movement led from the Dantian. Desire is not "empty" or a grab—it is an offering to others in the room.
TOOLS: Breath, gravity, and your "moving center".
✨ The Outcome
A space to gently challenge and expand your nervous system, allowing you to navigate desire, solitude, boundaries, and connection with total grace. Wanting transmutes into listening. Giving and receiving balance out.
👥 Who Is This For?
Advanced and beginners alike.
If you can move, you can dance.
For Pros: Let this be a “Zen Mind, Beginner’s Mind” challenge.
For Novices: Come with an open mind. You can watch first and take it one step at a time (we will help you along the way).
🕒 The Flow of the Evening:
Please, arrive on time and allow time to find parking. We start promptly at 7 pm. Doors close at 7:15pm to keep a unified container.

🎒 Preparation & What to Bring
Attire: Breathable clothing that allows for a full range of motion. Layers are highly recommended as we warm up and cool down.
Footwear: Barefoot or movement socks only (no street shoes on the dance floor).
Optional: A blindfold if you want to deepen your internal sensory experience during solo segments.
Hydration: Bring a reusable water bottle.
🛑 Your Safety Always Comes First
Because this journey explores proximity, touch, and connection, we strictly enforce the standard ethical rules of engagement borrowed from Contact Improvisation and Micro-Fusion dancing.
1. The Sovereignty of the "No": A boundary—whether expressed via a physical step-back, a closed frame, or a verbal "no"—is an absolute gift. 2. We celebrate clarity over polite compliance.
3. Kinetic Consent: Communication in the embrace is a two-way dialogue. We listen for subtle physical feedback and check in before initiating a close-embrace connection or weight-sharing.
4. The Freedom to Pivot: You are entirely free to transition from a partner dance back to a solo journey at any point, seamlessly and without explanation. You can always step aside, take a break and just watch. When in doubt, reach out to the facilitator.
