BioFi Deep Dive - Grassroots Economics and Commitment Pooling with Will Ruddick & Aude Péronne
This month, we host Will Ruddick and Aude Péronne of Grassroots Economics (grassrootseconomics.org) for a deep dive into the living practice and theory of commitment pooling.
In this 1.5 hour BioFi Deep Dive, we’ll move beyond introductory content and explore lessons from the field as well as visions for the near future for how diverse commitment pools can begin to network into healthy ecosystems of resource flow. There will be a presentation followed by moderated Q&A.
Some topics we’ll address:
What’s the difference between mutual credit and commitment pooling, and why does it matter?
How is commitment pooling directly linked to ecological and social restoration?
Is commitment pooling best suited for certain cultural and economic contexts, or can it work anywhere?
What are examples of thriving commitment pools?
What does it take to successfully activate a community commitment pool, and how can inspired community leaders find support?
Is a bioregion an appropriate context to think about commitment pooling?
How are pools beginning to relate to one another, and what could these relationships look like in 5 years?
How might commitment pools and Bioregional Financing Facilities best synergize?
As this BioFi Deep Dive is not intended as an introductory presentation, we highly encourage you to familiarize yourself with Grassroots Economics & Commitment Pooling prior to attending:
