The AI Collective Costa Rica | Humans in AI Week
Humans in AI Week runs 1 to 7 June across 200+ cities, 50 countries worldwide hosting simultaneous public events. It is a global moment to ask what it means to be human in the AI era, and to put that question in front of AI labs, policymakers, and future generations. The AI Collective Costa Rica Chapter is participating by pointing our community toward this event.
Tonight, we will showcase a CostaRican-built AI Agent: Luca!!
Our very own member, Ronald Escalante, will present Luca.
Luca is a cloud-agnostic AI platform built on the Microsoft Agent Framework using C# and running on Blazor, currently deployed on Microsoft Azure while remaining portable across environments. Its AI harness is model-vendor agnostic, allowing seamless integration with leading foundation models including OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, and Grok. While Claude Haiku has been the primary runtime model, recent experimentation with Grok 4.1 Fast Reasoning has shown promising results, reinforcing Luca’s flexibility to evolve with the rapidly changing AI ecosystem.
At its core, Luca is powered by a multi-agent orchestrator–worker architecture. A central orchestrator interacts with users, determines required skills, delegates work to specialized agents, and acts as a quality gate by validating outputs before delivering responses or requesting refinements. Luca also incorporates an emerging memory layer powered by RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation), enabling it to search historical conversations and recall information from months earlier while optimizing token consumption—bringing contextual continuity and long-term intelligence into the experience.
