Books & Ideas with Adam Skolnick and Kyle Thiermann
For this edition of Books & Ideas, join authors Adam Skolnick and Kyle Thiermann for an evening exploring what it actually takes to get a book into the world. From ghostwriting mega-bestsellers to building brands while writing after hours, both authors bring very different paths to publishing — and plenty of lessons along the way.
Skolnick, author of five books including the bestselling Can’t Hurt Me, which he co-wrote with David Goggins, will discuss his debut novel American Tiger, inspired by a surreal true story of an escaped tiger in the hills of LA. Thiermann, longtime voice of MUD\WTR and author of One Last Question Before You Go, a book about the art of interviewing your parents, will speak to straddling dual careers in writing and advertising, and strategies for launching his first book without backing from a big publisher.
Expect a thoughtful conversation on the realities of writing and publishing a first book — from reaching out to agents and navigating publishing paths to balancing creative work alongside everything else, followed by an audience Q&A on process, storytelling, and getting ideas onto the page.
