About the Event

Most engineers considering higher education in AI eventually face the same question: should they pursue an M.Tech or a specialised postgraduate programme?

The answer is rarely straightforward. While both pathways can help build technical knowledge, they differ significantly in curriculum design, practical exposure, industry relevance, and career outcomes. Yet most candidates make this decision without hearing from someone who has experienced both worlds firsthand.

Masters’ Union is hosting M.Tech vs Post-Graduation in AI: Which Path Is Right for You?, a focused session featuring Divij Bajaj, who pursued an M.Tech in AI from the University of Hyderabad, went on to build Generative AI systems at Microsoft, and later co-designed the curriculum for the PGP in Applied AI & Agentic Systems at Masters’ Union.

Drawing from his experience as a student, industry practitioner, and curriculum architect, Divij will share an honest perspective on what traditional M.Tech programmes do well, where they fall short, how the industry evaluates AI talent today, and how aspiring professionals can choose the pathway that best aligns with their goals.

In this webinar we'll cover:

  • The gaps in traditional M.Tech programmes and how industry expectations have evolved

  • Curriculum, projects, and learning outcomes across both pathways

  • How hiring managers evaluate AI candidates beyond degrees and credentials

  • The thinking behind the design of the PGP in Applied AI & Agentic Systems

  • How to decide which pathway is right for your specific career goals

About the Speaker

Divij Bajaj pursued an M.Tech from University of Hyderabad before building his career in AI at Microsoft, where he currently works as a Data & Applied Scientist II focused on Generative AI solutions and production-scale AI systems.

Having experienced the traditional M.Tech route firsthand and later worked on real-world AI applications in industry, he developed a unique perspective on the gap between academic preparation and industry requirements. This experience led him to co-design the curriculum of the PGP in Applied AI & Agentic Systems at Masters’ Union, helping shape a programme focused on building industry-ready AI engineers through hands-on product development and applied learning.
