​Invited By is a new format by 100 collectors exploring the relationship between artists, collectors and the way we discover art.

​For its first edition, collector Basileus invites Dubai-based artist Maryam Hassani to unveil The Seven Valleys, a new work inspired by Attar’s The Conference of the Birds and its seven stages of an inner journey: Quest, Love, Knowledge, Detachment, Unity, Wonder, and Poverty & Annihilation.

​COLLECTING AS A JOURNEY

​How do we discover an artwork? What makes us stop, connect, and want to know more?

​Rather than a traditional artist talk, this intimate afternoon invites collectors and those curious about collecting to experience Maryam’s new work through discovery, participation and exchange.

​Guests will first encounter the work, before hearing directly from Maryam about the ideas and process behind it. Guided by The Seven Valleys, everyone will then be invited to look, respond and exchange through a participatory experience exploring our own relationship with art.

​We’ll end together in an informal conversation around what emerged — from the work, from the questions, and from each other.

​No panel. No right answers. Just an afternoon to look more closely, exchange perspectives and experience how a relationship with art can begin.
