​About the Film

​At the heart of the Amazon rainforest, the Huni Kuin people have undergone a profound revival of their identity following decades of oppression. Directed by Lara Jacoski and Patrick Belem, born from a 3-year immersive living experience with the community, this feature documentary offers an intimate look into their spiritual world, mysteries, and ancestral way of life.

​Set in the remote Western Amazon (Acre), the journey to the Novo Futuro village required a 7-hour drive and 4 days by boat. Produced by Bem-te-vi Produções, the film has screened at over 43 festivals across 20 countries, winning 14 awards to date.

​About the Cinematographer

​Cinematographer Lucía Alonso (Master’s in Film Studies) explores identity and ancestral knowledge through immersive documentaries. Her work on Eskawata Kayawai earned her the 2026 FNAC Novos Talentos Award and features in PhotoVogue Italia and Atmos.
