Pocket Folio Bookblinding Workshop
YIYI Sphère has just turned one!
She aspires to be a publishing house, a cultural space, and a design studio. But first and foremost, she is a place where books can be made by hand.
Starting this autumn, we will offer occasional bookmaking workshops and courses. We are also planning to gradually open the studio to the public and develop longer-term bookmaking programmes.
Whether you want to create a family photo album, an artist’s book, your doctoral thesis, a travel journal, or an everyday notebook, you can bring it to life here. From printing and cutting to binding and finishing, you can make your book from A to Z, all in one place.
Next Saturday, we will host our very first bookmaking workshop.
Together, we will create a pocket-sized notebook inspired by a format commonly found in French publishing—the Pocket Folio.
We will go through the entire process together: folding the paper, sewing the sections, trimming the book block, binding, and making the cover. The finished notebook will open completely flat at 180 degrees, with ivory paper for the pages and a cloth-bound cover.
For this first trial workshop, places are limited to four participants, with a special introductory price. In return, we would love to hear your honest impressions and valuable feedback after the session.
Let’s begin with a single sheet of paper and turn it into a book of your own.
