About Event

If you work in User Experience (UX) you know how it feels to wear multiple 'hats', except you wear multiple 'masks' and it's exhausting.

Masking is to 'consciously or unconsciously suppressing or hiding ADHD/Neurodivergent traits to appear neurotypical and fit social/professional expectations'

If this resonated with you then you're at the right place.

If you feel personally attacked by that clinical definition you're definitely in the right place.

Unmasking in an Attention Economy is taxing on your mental capacity and can lead to things like the ADHD Tax and feelings of isolation due to always having to mask in public.

This is again particiularly notable in the Neurodivergent ADHD brain. And yes...again...the good news is that it's not you and that everybody masks to a degree.

Neurodivergent brains burn out faster when masking and this again is a neuroscience problem.

Say it with me again. YOUR BRAIN IS DIFFERENT AND THAT'S OKAY.

In this episode Amie and Leo talk about the mental toll it takes on ADHD brains to constantly mask/unmask to feel seen and/or accepted. We'l againl provide science-backed advice/tools to help you understand masking and how you can start to unmask.

We are two UX Researchers with 20+ years combined experience, with one of us also being certified ADHD coach that specializes in working with tech professionals.

Join us for a fireside chat where we're cutting through the generic productivity advice and talking about what actually works when your brain's self-regulation system runs different.
