SMART Antiviral Prize Launch Event
Please join BARDA and VITAL for the exciting launch of the SMART Antiviral Prize, a $100M initiative supporting development of broad-spectrum small molecule antiviral therapies. This event brings together innovators, startups, companies, and other partners committed to accelerating the next generation of antivirals.
The SMART Antiviral Prize supports novel, breakthrough approaches to development of broad-spectrum small molecule antiviral therapies, specifically targeting members of the Togaviridae and/or Flaviviridae families. There are currently no FDA-approved antivirals for any viruses within these families, which include dengue, Zika, West Nile, and Chikungunya, and these viruses collectively cause millions of infections globally each year, including increasing numbers of cases in the United States.
This event will introduce the vision and goals of the prize competition, highlight the opportunity for innovators in academic labs, startups and industry, and showcase organizations pushing the boundaries of antiviral innovation. The program includes keynote remarks, invited presentations, and rapid-fire spotlights from companies across the antiviral ecosystem, followed by networking.

Teaming Presentations
If you’re a researcher, part of a biotech startup, or service provider working on small-molecule antivirals or support their development and would like to be considered for a teaming presentation, you can express interest here.
This is a unique chance to interact with other innovators and get yourselves noted. Teaming presentations will be held in person at the event in Cambridge, MA.
