About Event

Sunday afternoons, the back room of a vegan restaurant on East 6th Street fills with people who share an interest in positive social change and new technology. Four hours later, we've gotten to know each other, explored ideating, and built a tangible project with a team.

We don't curate the guest list. Past weeks brought together a doula, a prompt engineer, a high school teacher, a muralist, and someone restoring old radios. The room simply takes the shape of whoever shows up. One tool we use is “Vibecoding:” our new capacity, with AI, to build applications and digital projects with natural language in the form of text prompts.

That said, there are many ways to create and create with others.

How the afternoon unfolds: we arrive between 11:30-12 noon, we settle in, we order something, we say hello and start to get to know others in the room.

At noon, someone opens the afternoon, shares something they can’t stop thinking about, teaches a concept or a possible solution to a social conundrum, leads us through an activity that might be valuable to us individually and collectively.

Then, we pitch our half-formed projects. Teams form naturally around whatever sparks each person’s interest. For the rest of the time, we build, we nosh, and we share what we made.

What we’re actually doing: We are practicing prototyping and building new worlds. The world outside is largely playing a finite game, optimizing for extraction, scale, and speed. In this room, we step out of that.

We practice creative attention, trust, and infinite thinking. We focus fiercely on one thing, alongside people who think nothing like us. The work is sitting shoulder to shoulder with erstwhile strangers (who become community members), sharing our imagination, and building something better together.

The relationships that come from this—we call them creationships.

Each week looks a little bit different.

This week · #10: Low-Fi, High-Impact: The Art of Creationship’ing and Amplifying our Impact

As a prelude to our creationship’ing this week, we’ll explore and experiment with a low-fi art project that offers insight to our most powerful learnings around creationship, gives us the chance to know others in the room better, and gives us a new tool to amplify the projects we want others to know about.

Note: Please bring your favorite notebook, two sheets of 8.5x11 paper, and any colorful writing utensils you can get your hands on. Worst case scenario: a pen will work just fine.

Then we’ll continue our practice of dropping fresh ideas on the table or picking up projects that already have some momentum. Whether you lead a project or support one, we’ll have two hours to make some progress in our teams before sharing what we made and what we learned with the room.

How a Sunday goes

  • 11:30 — doors open, settle in, say hello, order something

  • 12:00 — opening share / activity

  • 12:30 — intros and form projects groups for the day

  • 1:00 — explore, make, create something

  • 3:00 — show-and-tell

You leave inspired, a little changed, and with people you'll see again.

Some things we’re making here

  • Kula — a gifting platform

  • Vibe Cadaver — an exquisite-corpse game

  • Kitty Social — a shared fund

  • Ocean Agentics — a high seas treaty site

  • NotAmazon — local alternatives

Whoever shows up is who the afternoon is for. The room shapes itself around the people in it. Come as you are.
