About Event

As part of the BlockchainAPAC National Dialogue, Visa is hosting an event on the evolving role of stablecoins and digital currencies in payments, treasury and money movement, focusing on Australia’s position in the Asia Pacific region, global trends and the impact of Open Standard and collective stablecoin management.

Bringing together leaders from across the financial services ecosystem, the session will explore recent regulatory developments, emerging commercial models and practical use cases being explored both globally and locally.

This is an opportunity to engage directly with industry peers, share perspectives and discuss what these developments could mean for the Australian market.

Title: Stablecoins in Asia-Pacific: Who's Building, Who's Moving, and What Australia's Missing
Host: Visa
Date: Tuesday, July 21st 2026
Time: 12:00 PM - 2:00 PM

This session examines the accelerating evolution of stablecoins in the United States and what it signals for global markets and regulatory frameworks, including Australia.

We will explore the recent regulatory shift in the US and compare it with the Australian approach, highlighting areas of convergence and divergence.

The discussion will also examine growing bank engagement with stablecoins, including recent controversies around yield, the implications for traditional deposit franchises and the relevance of these dynamics for Australian financial institutions.

A further focus will be the rise of corporate treasury adoption, and how stablecoins are increasingly being integrated into enterprise liquidity and settlement strategies.

We will look at Visa’s work in blockchain enablement and settlement, including its multi-chain infrastructure strategy and USDC settlement initiatives and the practical benefits being derived from these developments.

The session will consider the broader “ripple effect”: what happens if the market converges toward standardised flows, coins and settlement patterns, and how this could reshape correspondent banking and other cross-border payment rails.
