Vibe Coding: Foundations (1 of 2) — GDG Build with AI

​This is the first session in a two-part Vibe Coding series exploring AI-assisted software development, part of Google's global GDG Build with AI initiative.

​Session one covers the foundations: the shift from writing every line yourself to directing an AI collaborator toward a working result. We'll walk through intent-driven development (borrowing from Andrej Karpathy's framing of "vibe coding") alongside the compound engineering loop — Plan, Work, Review, Compound — and the five-stage ladder from manual coding to parallel cloud execution. The focus is tool-agnostic: principles you can carry into whatever AI coding tool you're already using, whether that's Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, or something else.

​Session 2 builds on this one (design tools, then hands-on build sessions with specific platforms), but foundations day works fine as a standalone if this is your first Toledo Codes event.
