Tough Tech Week Kickoff 2026

​Join The Engine to open Tough Tech Week 2026 alongside the researchers, builders, investors, and partners shaping the future of Tough Tech.

​Tough Tech Week is a week-long celebration of transformational science and engineering, hosted by The Engine and more than 50 partner organizations across Greater Boston and beyond. Now in its third year, the week convenes Tough Tech startups building breakthrough solutions alongside the investors, government leaders, academic institutions, and ecosystem organizations that fund and support them. Last year, Tough Tech Week featured 65+ ecosystem events, bringing together more than 4,000 attendees.

​At the outset of the week, Tough Tech Week Kickoff convenes leaders from across the ecosystem, including The Engine, to share perspectives on where Tough Tech is making progress, where barriers remain, and what is required to move more breakthrough science into real-world deployment.
