​從鬼地方到全世界：在寫作、離鄉與返鄉之間

​從彰化永靖到柏林，從《鬼地方》裡的故鄉，到《第六十七隻穿山甲》的異地與遠行，再到《社頭三姊妹》回望台灣小鎮與女性的生命，陳思宏的小說不斷在「離開」與「回去」之間往返，他寫家庭和故鄉，包含難以說出口的祕密與傷痕，在故事的底層裡，當一個人離開家鄉之後，如何在遠方重新觀看，思考自己是從哪裡而來，處處既偏僻又私密。這些地方與人物經由小說，一步步走出了台灣。

​《鬼地方》出版後陸續被翻譯成多國語言，在世界各地遇見新的讀者，亦反映近年越來越多台灣文學作品透過翻譯進入國際出版與文學獎項的視野。世界開始以不同語言閱讀來自台灣的故事，對一位長年生活海外、同時持續以中文書寫台灣的作家個人而言，會意味著什麼？這場講座邀請到陳思宏從近年創作談起，談談作品之間若隱若現的線索，關鍵字落腳在故鄉與異鄉、家庭與記憶、離開與返回。

​將目光從作品稍稍移向寫作背後的生活，行程穿梭於不同城市，在書展與各種文學活動之間，一個作家如何保留寫作所需要的時間與專注？又如何在創作、工作、旅行與日常生活之間，找到節奏？

​從「鬼地方」出發，故事一路走向世界，而寫作者仍多次返回記憶原點，在離開與歸來之間，繼續寫作。

​From Ghost Town to the World: Between Writing, Leaving, and Returning
A talk by Kevin Chen

​From Yongjing in Changhua to Berlin, from the hometown of Ghost Town to the distant places and journeys of Pangolin No. 67, and then to Three Witches of Shetou, which turns its gaze back to a Taiwanese town and the lives of women, Kevin Chen’s fiction moves constantly between leaving and returning. He writes about family and home, including the secrets and wounds that are difficult to put into words. Beneath these stories lies a recurring question: Once we leave home, how do we look back from afar and reconsider where we come from? These places and characters are at once remote and intimate, yet through fiction, they have gradually made their way beyond Taiwan.

​Since its publication, Ghost Town has been translated into numerous languages, finding new readers around the world. Its journey also reflects the growing international presence of Taiwanese literature, as more works reach readers through translation and enter the global publishing and literary-prize landscape. As stories from Taiwan come to be read in different languages, what does this mean for a writer who has lived abroad for many years while continuing to write about Taiwan in Chinese? In this talk, Kevin Chen will reflect on his recent writing and the threads that run between his works, with recurring themes of home and elsewhere, family and memory, departure and return.

​Turning our attention from the books themselves to the life behind the writing, we will also consider the rhythms of a writer’s everyday life. Moving between cities, book fairs, and literary events, how does a writer preserve the time and concentration necessary to write? And how does one find a sustainable rhythm between writing, work, travel, and daily life?

​Beginning in a Ghost Town, these stories have travelled outward into the world. Yet the writer returns, again and again, to the origins of memory, continuing to write somewhere between departure and return.
