USA 250th & 450th Spring Celebration & Tribute to Larry Vazzana
USA 250th & Spring 450th Anniversary Celebration with Tribute to Larry Vazzana
This year, the United States turns 250.
And this spring turns 450.
We trace the waters of Pocahontas Spring back to at least 1626 — flowing long before the nation was named, stewarded by indigenous peoples who understood it not just as a resource but as a relative. We are gathering to hold both anniversaries at once.
On Father’s Day weekend, on the eve of the summer solstice, we come together at the Historic Smith Family Farm to honor the best of what this land has always asked of us —
To remember the indigenous peoples who first stewarded this ground. To honor the vision of those who built this nation. To stand together in the sovereignty of free people and their right to clean water and thriving land.
And to pay tribute to Larry Vazzana — who served as steward of this spring for over four decades. In his memory, we carry forward what he lived: protect it, provide from it, celebrate it.
