About Event

ABOUT THIS EVENT:

SING FOR YOUR SUPPER is a participatory dinner that sees each guest sing a song in exchange for a hot meal. Hosted by artist Hannah Sullivan.

This event aims to give new value to singing, to give participants a safe social space to enjoy sharing songs and to ignite a contemporary folk singing culture. Songs will be welcomed in the spirit of uniqueness that each individual voice brings to the table. There is room for nerves, for talking, for starting again and joining in.

Sing For Your Supper is inspired by the definition of Folk songs as performed by non-professionals in informal, non-commercial settings, it is not the song that makes it folk, but the way it is learnt and performed.

Limited free tickets available soon

‘We didn't know what to expect, just prepared a song and practised...what a wonderful, friendly, warm evening, we enjoyed all of the songs, so unusual and a great initiative.’
- Sing for your supper guest, Dieter.

ABOUT TRANSACTIONLAND:

Call in at Transactionland, a thoroughly unusual high-street retail emporium. From Wednesday 22nd ‘til Friday 31st July, Transactionland will be open for a bit of browsing and a spot of shoplifting at The Good Rice, 98 Robert Street, NW1 3QP

Transactionland is a response to a collective fear of talking about the economy - both ‘The Economy’, and the many other economies small and large we interact with every day. It aims to be a brave space for exploring alternatives and having some tongue-in-cheek fun with Very Serious Stuff.

Hosted by artist-turned-shopkeeper Rachael Clerke, Transactionland rejects the idea that economics is not for the likes of you or me: why leave it to the men in suits to design the systems that rule our lives?

Transactionland invites you to shop 'til you drop alongside a packed programme of conversations, workshops, performances and more, with visiting artists working the tills.
