AI is not waiting for us to be ready.
As systems become more capable, persuasive, and embedded in decision-making, accountability becomes harder to see and harder to assign.
In this session, Dr. Patrizia Benedetti challenges the common framing of AI risk as a distant future problem. The more immediate risk lies in a widening gap: technological capability is scaling rapidly, while human judgment, institutional design, and governance structures evolve far more slowly.
This gap already appears in everyday decisions — from hiring and legal drafting to strategy and routine professional work — where fluent AI outputs can quietly reduce scrutiny and blur responsibility.
AI amplifies what is already present: human incentives, blind spots, and governance quality. The challenge is ensuring that the human infrastructure around these systems is strong enough to carry the accountability.
