Outerboro Sports – Community Standards & Gameplay Policies
(Applies to all Adult Co-Ed Games)
Community Note: Connected Chef Partnership
For this pickup, a portion of proceeds will be donated to The Connected Chef, a Queens nonprofit providing dignified, nutrient-dense, culturally relevant groceries to local families.
Giving Tuesday is here — if you can’t make the game but still want to support, their donation link is in our IG Bio @outerborosoccer.
COMMUNITY STANDARDS
Our league is built on inclusion, respect, safety, and community. All players are expected to uphold these standards at every game, practice, and league event.
Respect & Fair Play
Treat all players, referees, and spectators with respect at all times.
This is an adult co-ed, inclusive league—all genders and all skill levels are welcome.
We play competitive, fun, community-first soccer. Good vibes are mandatory.
Referee Authority
A referee is present for all games. Their decision is final.
No arguing with referees.
Dissent, verbal abuse, intimidation, or aggressive behavior toward a referee results in immediate removal and potential suspension from future pickups.
Player Conduct
No fighting, threats, swearing directed at others, or any aggressive behavior.
No verbal abuse or criticism of teammates or opponents. Mistakes happen; we support one another.
Unsportsmanlike behavior will result in warnings, cards, suspension, or removal from the league/future pickups.
ATTENDANCE & COMMITMENT
Players are expected to show up on time. Consistent lateness affects gameplay and fairness.
If you RSVP and teams are formed, you are expected to attend.
No-shows may result in match suspensions, and repeated offenses may lead to removal.
EQUIPMENT & FIELD RULES
Turf shoes and plastic cleats are allowed. Metal cleats are not permitted.
Shinguards and goalie gloves are encouraged but not required.
The league provides balls, goals, pinnies, and official equipment.
Jewelry must be removed or taped; unsafe items will not be allowed- this includes watches.
GAMEPLAY RULES
This is an 8v8 co-ed pickup- we will make as many teams as we have sign-ups for.
We will play round robin or two fields side by side depending on attendance. Round robin will result in 20 min games.
No slide tackling—zero tolerance. Violations result in a yellow card; repeated infractions lead to suspension.
If a player calls a foul on themselves or another player, and the referee agrees, play stops immediately.
Games are played rain or shine unless the park or league closes the field. (except when there are thunderstorms, and extreme weather advisorys.)
SAFETY
Players must not participate if injured or under the influence of drugs/alcohol.
Safety rules are enforced strictly by referees and league officials.
Participation is at your own risk; the league does not provide medical insurance.
SUBSTITUTIONS
Unlimited substitutions “on the fly.”
Entering players must wait for exiting players to leave the field.
NO-SHOW, LATE ARRIVAL & EARLY EXIT POLICY
If you arrive late or no show- there will be no refund.
Players are expected to show up if they have RSVP'd - as it impacts play and team size.
GENERAL EXPECTATIONS
We maintain an inclusive, respectful environment—no discrimination of any kind.
Spectators are welcome but may not heckle players or referees.
Keep the field and surrounding areas clean.
All league fees are non-refundable; funds support field rentals, equipment, officials, and community donations.
