Defeating the Intelligence Curse Hackathon
Overview
The world is racing towards standalone AGI as a goal in and of itself. This approach risks our opportunity to seriously empower and prepare people for this technology before it poses serious threats to our safety or leaves us behind economically. Largely inspired by the Intelligence Curse and d/acc, we think the antidote is to build technologies that augment human capabilities, defend us from existential threats (bio, cyber, psychological), and quickly distribute the benefits of frontier AI progress to the masses.
Join us for a full-day workshop and hackathon at Edge Esmeralda. Note: Limited number of free tickets provided, please email [email protected] if interested! You can also participate remotely (via Google Meet).
The hackathon will include a talk and panel on the future of AI safety, and a 6-hour working session focused on creating concrete threat models, or technologies to protect and empower people in this new age.
Our speakers are leaders in d/acc and AI safety/security, including Esben Kran, Luke Drago, Rudolf Laine, and Nathan Helm Burger.
This event is co-hosted and sponsored by Imbue, a company creating tools to make software creation accessible to everyone.
Hackathon project themes:
Rigorous threat model demos
Online defense mechanisms
Decentralization + governance
Human-centered AI tools
There will be a round of lightning demos at the end, and the winners will be awarded prizes:
1st place: $1800
2nd place: $500
3rd place: $200
If you want to help steer the development of AI in a direction that genuinely benefits humans, this event is for you.
