The Test Tribe 31st Porto Meetup
The Test Tribe 31st Porto Meetup
AI is changing how we approach software testing, but does adopting AI automatically mean better quality? As AI takes on more QA activities, teams must rethink which practices still matter, what needs to evolve, and where human judgment remains essential.
At The Test Tribe’s 31st Porto Meetup, Bárbara Abreu and Aline Souza will explore two important perspectives on AI-driven QA: evolving existing quality practices and learning to question the results AI produces. Through practical examples and real-world scenarios, both sessions will examine how QA professionals can use AI more intentionally without compromising quality.
Session 1
AI in QA: What Should We Keep, Change, or Leave Behind?
Speaker: Bárbara Abreu, Senior QA at UMatch
With over 10 years of experience in Quality Assurance, Bárbara has worked across diverse systems and technologies, contributing to different stages of the Software Development Life Cycle, from requirements analysis to solution validation.
Her experience spans functional, integration, regression, backend, API, database, frontend, end-to-end, UAT, and smoke testing. In this session, she will explore how AI is reshaping existing QA practices and how teams can make conscious decisions about what to retain, adapt, replace, or leave behind.
The session will cover:
Evolving QA Practices: Understanding the impact of AI on existing testing processes and workflows.
What to Keep, Change, or Leave Behind: Identifying which QA practices should be retained, adapted, replaced, or abandoned.
Standards and Accountability: Understanding the importance of evidence, validation, and accountability in AI-assisted QA.
Maintaining Software Quality: Evolving QA practices without compromising reliability and confidence in release decisions.
Session 2
AI Tested It, Everything Passed. Should You Trust It?
Speaker: Aline Souza, Senior QA Engineer at Kuehne + Nagel
Aline is a Senior QA Engineer with over eight years of international experience, working on complex projects that connect quality, risk, and business value through test strategy and automation.
She focuses on building a strong quality culture within agile teams through collaboration and communication. With a background in Computer Science, a postgraduate specialization in Software Engineering, and an ISTQB CTFL certification, Aline is passionate about positioning quality as a strategic business differentiator.
In this session, she will challenge the assumption that more AI-generated tests, higher coverage, and green dashboards necessarily translate into better software quality. Through practical examples, she will explore why QA judgment becomes even more important when AI starts generating and executing tests at scale.
The session will cover:
Looking Beyond Green Dashboards: Why pass rates, test coverage, and test volume can be misleading, particularly with AI-generated tests.
The Value of QA Judgment: Understanding why human decisions about what to test, where to test, and what might be missing remain critical.
Using AI Intentionally: Learning how to move from uncertainty to action when incorporating AI into everyday QA workflows.
