Building AI Agents That Teams Can Trust | 6th Chicago Meetup
Building an AI agent that completes a defined task is one challenge. Designing several agents that coordinate decisions, share context, and operate within clear controls is a much harder one.
As organisations move from standalone agents to multi-agent systems, questions emerge around orchestration, governance, reliability, and human oversight. This meetup will explore what teams need to consider when taking agentic systems beyond experimentation and into production environments.

What's on the Agenda?
From AI Agents to Agentic Systems: What It Really Takes to Build and Govern Them Well
Speaker: Kajal Jain (AI Instructor)
A standalone AI agent may be designed to complete a specific task. Multi-agent systems introduce additional complexity because several agents may need to collaborate, make decisions, exchange information, and operate across connected workflows.
In this session, Kajal Jain will explore the shift from individual AI agents to broader agentic systems. The session will cover the architectural, operational, and governance considerations organisations need to address when designing and managing these systems.
Kajal will also discuss where multi-agent workflows can become difficult to control, why governance needs to be considered from the beginning, and how teams can balance AI autonomy with appropriate human oversight.
How This Meetup Solves Your Problem
Teams working with AI agents may already be facing questions such as the following:
How does a multi-agent system differ from a standalone agent?
Where do coordination and decision-making become difficult to manage?
What governance controls should be considered during system design?
When should a human review, approve, or intervene in an agent's actions?
How can teams improve reliability as agentic workflows become more complex?
This session will provide a clearer framework for thinking about these issues before agent-based systems are introduced into production workflows.
Why You Should Show Up
This meetup is an opportunity to learn directly from a practitioner, ask questions, and compare approaches with others working on AI-powered products and systems.
You will also meet QA professionals, software engineers, product leaders, AI practitioners, and other technology professionals from the Chicago community. The discussion will be relevant both to teams already building with AI agents and to those evaluating where agentic systems may fit within their products.
