About the buildathon
Most buildathons reward demos. GrowthX buildathons reward proof and are built for impact.
We have three tracks you can choose from:
Track 1: Virality
Can you build a product that drives attention? Build in public across all eight hours, ship something the feed cannot ignore. The build that gets screenshotted, dropped in a group chat, quote-posted by a stranger. Scored on the posts you put out, the views they pull, and the visitors they send to your product. The test is not whether it is clever. It is whether someone posts it without being asked, and brings traffic with them.
Track 2: Revenue
Can you build something people will pay for the same day? The core has to sit on a real pain point, no random toys because they look cool. Scored on visitors, sign-ups, actions completed, and a few real payments if you can land them. The loop we have seen win: post a waitlist in the first 30 minutes, get users in, talk to them, build the exact thing they asked for, go live, capture a payment. Picture YC's whole incubator compressed into eight hours.
Track 3: AI as an agency
Can a team of agents do the job a real agency charges for? Take an agency people pay for, a legal team for example, with its reviewer, researcher and drafter. Represent every role as an agent, built as multi-agent as a service, each with its own memory and context, running the right workflow. Scored on one thing above all: does the job get done, not whether the agents look impressive.
These 3 tracks are an original GrowthX IP.
We have pressure-tested them across hundreds of builder rooms, and we are bringing that format to Hermes: sharper, faster, and built for people who want proof over demos.
Who is this for?
Titles are not the best way to judge who this is for, but they can give you a useful sense of the room.
AI-first engineers
People building with AI every day, shipping products, agents, internal tools, automations, or new interfaces.
Founders
People building companies, testing markets, launching products, selling to users, and moving from idea to proof fast.
Product leads
People who can spot real user pain, define the right problem, and turn messy ideas into usable products.
Growth engineers
People who sit at the intersection of product, data, distribution, and speed. They can build, launch, measure, and iterate.
Forward deployed engineers
People who work close to customers, understand business context, and can turn customer problems into working systems.
GTM and growth operators
People who know how to acquire users, create demand, write sharp copy, launch campaigns, and move distribution.
Technical generalists
People who may not fit one neat title, but can build, think clearly, use AI well, and ship under pressure.
GrowthX rooms are made up of experienced builders and operators who have already shipped real work. Experience is not the only filter. We have accepted young founders straight out of college, 17-year-olds who are already building, shipping, and in some cases, winning buildathons. The bar is not age. The bar is seriousness. We typically accept only 10% of people who apply.
Meet Our Partners
OpenAI
OpenAI is the AI Partner for The World’s Largest Hermes Buildathon, giving builders access to API credits so they can build freely without worrying about token costs. Thousands of builders across 10 cities and 5 countries will use GPT-5.5 to prototype, test, and ship AI agents on top of Hermes. After partnering with OpenAI for India’s first OpenClaw Buildathon, we’re excited to build together again at a much larger global scale.
Convex
Convex is the Database Partner for The World’s Largest Hermes Buildathon, helping builders move faster from idea to working product. With real-time sync, backend functions, workflow support, and vector search, Convex gives AI products the context and infrastructure they need without forcing teams to spend the day setting up backend plumbing. GrowthX’s own new community platform is being built on Convex, making this a product we deeply believe in.
Wispr Flow
Wispr Flow is the Dictation Partner for The World’s Largest Hermes Buildathon, helping builders remove friction between thinking and shipping. Builders can dictate prompts, PRDs, system instructions, test cases, docs, and implementation plans much faster than typing, with support for technical language, codebase context, reusable snippets, and structured transforms. In an 8-hour buildathon, Wispr Flow helps teams move at the speed of thought.
ElevenLabs
ElevenLabs is the Voice Partner for The World’s Largest Hermes Buildathon, helping builders give their agents a voice, personality, and real conversational experience. From voice cloning and low-latency responses to multilingual support and contextual conversations, ElevenLabs opens up a new class of voice-first personal agents. After seeing production-grade use cases emerge from our Voice AI Buildathon, we’re excited to see what builders create with ElevenLabs and Hermes together.
Cloudflare
Cloudflare is the Hosting Partner for The World’s Largest Hermes Buildathon, helping builders take their products from laptop to live in minutes. Builders can use Cloudflare to deploy globally, observe AI model performance through AI Gateway, track usage, and learn how users interact with what they build. For an 8-hour buildathon, Cloudflare gives teams the speed, scale, and visibility needed to move from prototype to production.
Linkup is the Web Search Partner for The World’s Largest Hermes Buildathon, giving builders real-time web search for AI agents through a single API. Instead of relying on outdated model knowledge, builders can fetch fresh, cited information from across the web to power research assistants, AI copilots, and autonomous agents.
Dodo Payments is the Payments Partner for The World’s Largest Hermes Buildathon, helping builders start accepting payments in under 5 minutes. With one integration, builders can accept payments across countries, support subscriptions and one-time purchases.
Meet your hosts
Akhilesh Gupta
Akhilesh Gupta is Director of AI Solutions at Altir and founder of The Tool Nerd, where he builds and writes about AI agents, automation, and generative AI. With 14+ years across fintech, logistics, and edtech, he operates across product, business, and engineering. He brings the range this buildathon needs: strategy, code, and fast AI execution.
Hitesh Sharma
Hitesh Sharma is an Engineering Manager and former founder who joined Gainsight as the 26th employee, grew into leading 18 engineers across three product teams, and later founded Motor360. At Motor360, he built and launched the product end-to-end as a solo engineer. He brings the founder-engineer lens: how to build lean, make hard product calls, and ship without hiding behind headcount.
