Dalliance: 3 hour music experience with storytelling
This is a 3 hour music experience guided by an expert who tells stories of each song and their purpose.
Join us for a three-hour journey through music and story, from Persian story telling music to Māori chants to Japanese, Indian, pan‑African, Spanish, and contemporary sounds, guided with care at the Embassy of the Free Mind.

This guided, three-hour journey unfolds in the dark, where you are invited to wear a blindfold, so that hearing becomes your compass. Your host, Kayvan, sets the scene and then leads you across continents and centuries: Māori traditions, Japanese and Indian lineages, Persian heritage, selections from across the African continent, the voices of Aztec and Maya cultures, and modern compositions that echo them. You will hear classical, tribal, hip hop, indie, jazz and even dance music!
Each piece is introduced with story, its origins, purpose, and the world that shaped it, so you not only hear the music; you understand why it exists.
You are welcome to sit, to lie down, or to move gently. This is not a party, though at moments the body may want to dance. It isn’t a meditation class, yet many guests find profound reflection. The dynamics, soft to thunderous, intimate to expansive, are intentionally shaped to carry you deeper into listening. What emerges is rare: a chance to feel music in its purest form, guided by context, care, and curiosity.
